In a meeting two days ago between Florida Governor Ron DeSantis and President Donald Trump, FEMA decided to grant an additional 45 days of emergency protective support for Florida Panhandle areas devastated by Hurricane Michael, including local government support and debris removal. President Trump said that the U.S. government and FEMA are committed to providing additional funding, as well.
Previously Florida was going to receive 100 percent reimbursement for only the first five days of hurricane relief efforts. Governor DeSantis thanked the president and said hurricane survivors and Floridians would be “profoundly grateful” for the additional support.
