Tropical Storm Elsa Impacts Tampa Bay

According to the Tampa Bay Times, Tropical Storm Elsa has passed through the Tampa Bay area about 35 miles southwest of Cedar Key. About 15,400 Tampa Electric Co. customers and 4,000 Duke Energy customers lost power overnight, but most have been restored. Overall, Tampa Bay managed to get through the storm with minimal damage.

Flights into Tampa International Airport were canceled as of 5pm Tuesday July 6th, however they are now back in operation as of 8:30am July 7th. At 3:30am staff inspected the airfield and found no damage. The rental car center and garages are now open as well.
