When Hurricane Irma made landfall last September, many Florida homes and businesses were damaged. The aftermath of this storm left many Floridians in need of legal advice on how best to recover.
To remedy this problem, Floridians were offered a toll-free hotline that connected them to lawyers from the Florida Bar Young Lawyers Division. They received advice on landlord-tenant or foreclosure issues, home repair contracts and contractors and how to file property insurance claims.
The hotline offered both English and Spanish speaking lawyers and had 425 lawyers volunteer their time and provide more than 2,000 people with free advice.
