The National Weather Service’s warnings to Northwest Florida residents came true, as storms literally mowed down parts of Destin and surrounding areas Thursday morning, damaging several traffic lights, as well as several homes and commercial structures.
There were also reports of two townhome fires that possibly could have started as a result of lightening from the strong squalls. Destin appeared to be the epicenter for the severe weather, which finally moved out Thursday afternoon.
