ILG has been carefully following slow moving but catastrophic Hurricane Dorian from the beginning. Once we saw Dorian parked over the Abacos and Grand Bahama, we knew from our 15 years of experience that the impact would be devastating to the locals, and it was. The photos, video and social media posts from this area paints a very bleak picture for residents who experienced Category 5 winds in some cases over 200 mph and a storm surge over 20 feet, in some cases.
Tuesday, as soon as it was clear Dorian would no longer be a threat to our attorneys, field and support staff in South Florida, we immediately joined the relief effort sponsored by Channel 10’s Kristi Krueger and Nautical Ventures in Dania Beach donating 30 each 20’ X 30’ blue tarps, several ice chests, towels, paper and personal care goods, batteries and bedding, joining hundreds of other concerned Floridians to fill several 40-foot shipping containers destined for the Bahamas and Abacos to help people who badly need the essentials.
Participating from our Florida property insurance law firm were director of field operations, Marat Filler; adjusting support team supervising attorney, Nicole Shacket; Jason Shtundel, and Sydel Highfield.
“It really feels great to help others in need,” added Shacket.
“Time is of the essence,” said Filler. “The first 72 hours are so important for those who are in shock from the trauma of the storm. They need help now, and we will not stop our relief efforts any time soon!”
As the storm continues roaming up the Florida coast, ILG is already receiving calls from Florida homeowners that experienced wind and water damage from Hurricane Dorian and need assistance reviewing their insurance policies and having the damage surveyed by trained field professionals.
