The Alabama Local made a list of the 10 things you need to know about hurricanes as well as the important facts that we learned from las year’s season and here is what they pointed out:

- Deadliest hurricane to ever hit the U.S: Galveston Hurricane of 1900
- When are you most likely to die in a hurricane? Indirect falls, traffic accidents and medical issues caused by the stress of a storm
- What directly killed the most people in the biggest storm last year? Flooding
- Tropical storms can strengthen very rapidly
- Even if the storm is a category 1, it should be taken very seriously
- Tropical storms and hurricanes aren’t confined to the summer time
- Hurricanes can move from one ocean to the other
