Dan Summers, director of Collier County’s Bureau of Emergency Services and Marla Ottenstein, Naple Daily News Get Organized columnist, spoke Wednesday, June 5 at an event hosted by the Naples Daily News about how to prepare for the next big storm.
Summers presentation highlighted the important facts to consider when deciding to evacuate your home in the event of a storm. “You hide from the wind, but you run from the water. It’s the water you want to get away from,” Summers said.
More than 100 people attended the event, including Steve and Jeanne Santoro, Naples residents who moved from to the area from Boston in January. “We came from the Northeast, and we prepared for blizzards. That’s different than preparing for a hurricane,” Jeanne Santoro said.
