Florida, Are You Ready? Here’s What to Expect from the 2025 Hurricane Season

What to expect from hurricanes in Florida in 2025

The 2025 Atlantic hurricane season is officially upon us, and forecasters warn it could be another super-charged and storm-packed year. After a historically destructive 2024 season, this year’s forecast is sounding the alarm yet again: warmer-than-average ocean temperatures, a high number of predicted storms, and conditions primed for rapid intensification.

For Florida homeowners and business owners, this means one thing: Prepare now, before the next major storm takes aim at our state. And if your property suffers damage, Insurance Litigation Group (ILG) is here to make sure your insurance company pays what you’re rightfully owed.

Warm Waters, Dangerous Storms

According to AccuWeather, the Atlantic is already well above average in sea surface temperatures, setting the stage for intense and fast-developing hurricanes. These warmer waters act as high-octane fuel for storms. The result? Hurricanes that rapidly intensify just before landfall, like we saw with Hurricane Ian in 2022.

This year, between 13 and 18 named storms are expected, including 7 to 10 hurricanes and as many as 5 major hurricanes (Category 3 or higher). There’s also a higher-than-normal risk of direct impacts along Florida’s Gulf Coast, the Southeast U.S., and even inland areas.

Expect a Busy Peak and a Long Season

Meteorologists say 2025 could kick off with early-season storms in June, followed by a lull. Only to ramp up dramatically in September through November, similar to last year. With La Niña possibly forming in late summer, activity could spike during the fall, when Floridians are often less vigilant.

Why This Matters to You

The harsh truth is that many Floridians were caught off guard in 2024 and their insurance companies didn’t always step up to make things right. Claims were denied or delayed. Hidden mold damage or structural weakening went ignored. Policyholders were underpaid and pressured into lowball settlements. At ILG, we’ve seen it all and we know how to fight back!
