How to Prevent Storm Damage

Aug 11, 2019

Windstorms can do a lot of damage to one’s home or business, which is why it is so important to prevent it in any way possible. Here are some prevention tips that can help potentially avoid some, or even all possible windstorm damage from occurring in your home or place of work.

  1. Bring any outdoor items you can to a safe, indoor area. Wind and storm warnings should act as your alert to remove anything from outside your home that can potentially be blown around and cause damage among your home or business.
  2. Anchor down small outdoor buildings. Storage sheds and other small buildings should be anchored down into the ground before a storm.
  3. Modify susceptible areas. Before a storm, it is important to make sure that your garage door is reinforced or replaced with a strong door/tracks.
  4. Maintain your landscaping. Trees and other landscaping debris have the potential to cause major damage to your home or business during a storm. Make sure to maintain all landscaping on your property and clean up and dispose of any unnecessary debris to avoid potential problems.
